iced coffee, 4 steals and a splurge 5.4.11

With Summer on the mind, I hit Soho inspired to find great daytime looks, and cotton was all I was interested in! Cotton is my best friend during hot summer months because as I have shared before, I am a total sweater. God help anyone who is around me wearing silk on a 90 degree day, you might as well be stuck in an elevator with a woman who is in the peak of her menopause and 1000 lbs overweight. (it is not pretty)

First, I made 1 pit stop at Forever 21 where I was in search of a necklace with green in it. I have green eyes and love including little details to make them pop. When I laid eyes on this 3 strand faux peridot necklace for $6.80, I knew my search was over.

and so my journey continued..

The minute I hit H&M I came across a fabulous buffet of cotton...

Cotton, high waisted, nude... I could not help myself! These cotton skirts are heavenly, and for $9.95, they are an amazing investment (no risk) as they can be worn as a great daytime look or even just to the pool.

Also- this is where I reveal that I tend to be a creature of habit and am VERY predictable when it comes to a great cotton solid, I always buy at least 2.

If I didn't come across this great combo look, I would have purchased 3 skirts, but I loved the way this tube top looks paired back to the navy skirt. (insta 4th of July)

The tank will not likely see the outside world without being worn with this skirt, but for $5.95, it was well worth it! $15.90 for this cotton combo look is fantastic. Also, BONUS, I am able define my own waistline. I love dresses, but nothing beats a great skirt/top combo that allows me to embrace my own assets.

I am a sucker for a white dress. I love anything that makes my tan look darker than it is during the summer and white always does the trick! When I came across this Rebecca Taylor Dress, I was immediately drawn to the gorgeous eyelet details. This easy to wear silhouette is perfect for a hot summer day! Also, I could not help myself from adding a belt to highlight my waistline, something I do often with any solid color dress.

All in all, my mission was accomplished and now I have an arsenal of go to daytime looks for this summer!
